Bonfires are special places, placed in each location.
Additionally, you might rest by a bonfire.
A bonfire gives you the option to use fast travel.
Spell attunement is another function of the bonfire.
It allows you to select and change the spells your character will be able to use in combat.
Some items can be burned at a bonfire with various effects, such as increasing the difficulty level.
The last option is to use a chest, storing the items you don’t need at the moment.
Now for the shortcuts.
It’s extremely important when repeating boss encounters, as running through the entire area might be problematic.
Remember about unlocking those special routes whenever it’s possible.
