He will be locked in a cell, and a key will be required to set him free.

Search this location and you will findCell keyby the stairs.
If you forgot the way, start from the second bonfire,Tower on the Wall.
Head to the very bottom of the tower.
You won’t get lost as the corridor leads directly toGreirat.
Use the key to kick off the cell and talk to the prisoner.
Pass the gate and get into the house on the left.
Enter the balcony and drop another hanging body.
Go down towards a large square with a huge bonfire and a group of enemies.
You will obtainCurl Up gesture.Greiratcan also sell you some items.
If you let him go hunting, he will leaveCleansing Chapel.
Greiratwill return after killingDeacons of the Deep, and will offer some more items.
Lighting up the bonfire means sendingGreiratout on search.
Talk to him at theFirelink Shrineand agree to his journey.Greiratmy not return.
To save him, you’re free to do either of the following:

If you have not boughtSiegward’s armorfromUnbreakable Patches,tell him whereGreiratwent.
He will save him, but only before the battle withPontiff Sulyvahn.
Otherwise, you will find his corpse in the sewers.
Take his remains toShrine Handmaidand she will start to sell new items.
After you enter theLothric Castle,Greiratwill ask you again to grant him your permission to go hunting.
If you agree, he will not return anymore.
You will find his corpse on one of the rooftops inGrand Archives.
Jump down, where you find a shaman and several opponents gathered around him.
