InOutward, a backpack slows your character down in combat.
There are situations where it is better to leave your backpack behind.

Your backpack isn’t marked on the map.
However, you’re free to see its icon onthe compass.
Keep moving in the direction of that icon.
You also have to pay attention to the ground.

This method also works when you respawn without the backpack.
