I wouldn’t recommend trying to fly over it.
You should be able to reach the plateau in just a few seconds.
Ignore the first group of aliens, because they’ll be slaughtered in a short while.
Instead, focus your attention on other enemy units.
You shouldn’t have any problems spotting them.
Use the machine gun, because you’ll need the rockets for later.
You should also consider pressing the side movement keys so that avoid enemy fire.
WAIT here once the battle has ended, because your ship will automatically regenerate its armor.
double-check you’ve got plenty of armor points left before you decide to proceed with the next objective.
