This page ofThe Witcher 3 Wild Huntguide focuses onthe available categories of quests.
We explain their general assumptions and whether they are mandatory to complete the game.
The Witcher 3: Types of quests
There arefour main quest typesinWitcher 3.
Each quest category has its own tab in the journal.
The available types of quests are described in the following subpoints.
Most main quests have specific requirements, but some of them require you to complete various other tasks.
Often you’re able to choose the order in which you will complete the main quests you receive.
But keep in mind that the order you choose might have an impact on future quests.
And if you start with quest B, then quest A might be different.
Side quests
All these quests are optional.
There is a great variety to them.
Important - you could fail some of the side quests, e.g.
if you make the principal angry or if you cause his death.
Witcher contracts
A special category of side quests.
You should visit the quest giver before going for a hunt anyway andbargain better reward for completing the task.
All quests from this category are aboutfinding and killing strong monsters.
You should prepare before the battle as well (oils, bombs, signs etc.).
Treasure hunts
Another specific form ofside quests.
you could activate and add to journal quests from this group in two ways.
Usually you will find some letter or other document linked to the quest.
Second way isfinding one of the treasures directly, without the notes that guide you to it.
