He will only be able to slide his head into the hole, but this will suffice.

Head towards the large exit that you’re able to see in the distance.
At the exit, you will be attacked by four suits of armor.
Backtrack immediately and head into the area with Trico in it.
The beast will react, set himself free and deal with all the opponents.
Then, return to the mine exit.
Climb onto Trico and point him to successive ledges that he can jump towards.
At the very end, Trico will jump towards the long bridge.
It will crumble partially, but you will soon get into safety.
